Pat Troy's Pub May Have Found a New Owner

A change of ownership document has been filed with the city.

Iconic Old Town restaurant may be changing hands.

Margaret Keane has applied with the city for a change of ownership for the 31-year-old pub located at 111 North Pitt St.

The pub has been for sale for some time with signs on its interior advertising its availability. A trip to its website shows "For Sale! Would you like to buy this historic 31 year old Irish restaurant and pub?" emblazoned across the top.

Keane, the lessee and prospective business owner, says in her application that at the moment no changes are proposed should the requested change of ownership occur. Though there are plans to paint the restaurant's interior and possibly to add three televisions in the future.

Keane said she had no comment on the matter when asked by Patch to discuss the application.

Keane of Alexandria's Taney Avenue would hold 50 percent of ownership while Scott Holdt of North Beach, Md., would own the other half, according to the document.

Current hours would continue as 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. with the same 210 seats.

Edgar, yes, all 15 Alexandria Republicans can fit inside of Pat Troy's, that's for sure. And you're right, Pat's got a true heart of gold, despite the fact that he's a hard core conservative Republican. I hope that he remains healthy, along with Bernie, his wife, and they continue to come by the restaurant after he passes it on to new ownership. Pat Troy's wouldn't be 'Pat Troy's' without Pat.

I do like Pat Troy's although I don't often go there because I find the inside to be too dark and it feels "crowded" given the amount of stuff on the walls. I think that a nice refresh of the inside will do wonders to make it more hospitable and welcoming.

Pat Troy's is the best dang Irish pub in all the land. Many a fiery night I've enjoyed with family and friends. Guinness never tasted so good with Pat at the helm. Such a wonderful man...believe I've even seen several leipreacháns scrambling through the pub when it got late Into the evening, music was playing, and the lights were dim. We salute you, God bless you and your family, and God bless America!
