Updated: La Strada Opens For Lunch

Osteria 1909 still not open for business.

11:20 a.m. Wednesday update — Courtney Scott emailed Del Ray Patch to say Osteria 1909 is not opening for lunch on Wednesday. Instead, , the Scott family's restaurant located next to Osteria, will be open for lunch at 11:30 a.m.

"I don't know how I got this so wrong, but La Strada is opening for lunch starting [Wednesday], not Osteria," Scott wrote. "Osteria is still having a few problems getting open."

Both Scott and Patch apologize for the confusion.

In an email to Del Ray Patch, Courtney Scott, daughter of owner Stephen Scott, wrote: “We will be serving panini [sandwiches], salads, pastas and more. We will be open every day for lunch.”

The Scotts also operate La Strada, which is located next door to Osteria 1909. The two restaurants will not share storage or kitchen space. They will be completely separate.

“I like to think of Osteria as modern Milan and La Strada being more like rustic Bologna,” Stephen Scott told Patch over the summer.

Longtime D.C.-area chef Hector Guerra was hired to oversee Osteria 1909 in July.

“We’re going to have real dishes and sandwiches at good prices,” Guerra said in August. “Everything will be fresh. No freezer or microwave.”

The Scotts hired a local design team to give the cozy space a unique look. Along with an angled 26-foot bar, Osteria 1909 will have a minimalist decor styled in warm brown, black and tan colors.

No word if Osteria 1909, which is located at 1909 Mt. Vernon Avenue, will be open for dinner.
