Moving Out: Del Ray Antique Dealers Heading to Fairfax County

Potomac West, Not Too Shabby exiting to make way for new Walgreens.

Potomac West Interiors and Antiques and Not Too Shabby Consignments are moving south and out of the City of Alexandria.

On Wednesday, Greater Alexandria Patch received an email from the two antique dealers saying they are preparing the former St Clair Appliance building at 6239 Shields Ave. as a new home. The building faces Route 1 and is located just north of the Kings Crossing Walmart and Chuck E. Cheese’s in the 6300 block of Richmond Highway.

Potomac West and Not Too Shabby have been located in Del Ray for the past 14 years. The two shops are exiting their current digs to make way for plans to build a Walgreens in the entire retail strip at 1509-1517 Mount Vernon Ave.

"We will be combining the two businesses under the new name Evolution Home when we move to the new location on Shields Ave," explained Lauren Rissmiller of Potomac West Interiors and Antiques.

Rissmiller said the businesses just received notice the building they currently occupy was officially sold. They then quickly started putting their plans to move in motion.

Rissmiller said owner Susan Driscoll has tentative plans to hold a soft opening July 27, with a grand opening Aug. 10.

Both dealers have planned a Del Ray farewell party and moving sale on July 20.
