Howell Avenue Home to Be Featured on HGTV

Three-level farmhouse filmed for an episode of "My First Place."

A home in the 500 block of E. Howell Avenue was recently filmed for an episode of Home and Garden Television’s “My First Place.”

High Noon Entertainment contacted McEnearney Associates about featuring the three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom house located just behind . The production company used a full Saturday to prepare and film the home.

“HGTV actually had to approve the house,” said McEnearney realtor Kathryn Montalbano. “I thought that was kind of interesting. Sort of a little bit of Hollywood in Del Ray.”

Montalbano isn’t sure when the episode will air. The production is usually done well in advance. Another local agent took the couple through the house during filming. The couple ended up not choosing the home.

The three-level, 2,230-square-foot home features a front porch, walkout basement, backyard with patio and a large kitchen.

“It’s the only kitchen I know in Del Ray where you can leave your espresso machine out,” Montalbano said.

The home is located just off of Route 1, something Montalbano believes appeals to a lot of people because of the new amenities going in at Potomac Yard and the accessibility to Metro.

“Everything is happening and in flux right now. Even in a year, there will be more value in the home,” Montalbano said.

The home is currently listed for $589,500.
