Greener Cleaner Claims 'Heart of Del Ray'

The “Heart of Del Ray” award is moving one storefront to the north.
Greener Cleaner of Del Ray, located at 2210 Mount Vernon Ave., claimed the big cardboard heart after more than 550 people placed votes on the Del Ray Business Association website.
The Neighborhood Pharmacy of Del Ray, located next to the Greener Cleaner at 2204 Mount Vernon Ave., won the award last year.

The heart is presented annually by the DRBA around Valentine's Day to the business that best demonstrates a warm and welcoming attitude to customers, shows generosity and commitment to the community and contributes to making Del Ray a great place to live, work and shop.
“We’re happy to have it,” said owner Serdar Basegmez, who opened his drycleaners four years ago. “We’re going to continue giving back to the community. It’s always our pleasure to be part of the neighborhood.”

Caboose Cafe and Bakery, Pork Barrel BBQ and Holy Cow, St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub and Taqueria Poblano were the other nominees for this year’s award.
Other past winners include A Show of Hands and local realtors Jen Walker and Bobi Bomar.
