Evening Star Cafe Hosting a Holiday Spectacular

Patio will host screenings of Christmas TV specials before and after the Del Ray tree-lighting ceremony on Saturday evening.

Evening Star Café’s Front Porch—which hosted a fun summer of alfresco dining—will be transformed into a winter lodge the evening of Saturday, Dec. 7 for a holiday spectacular of sorts.

Beginning at 5 p.m., staff will begin projecting Christmas TV specials in the patio area and serving mulled wine, spiced cider, hot toddies and hot cocoa.

Complimentary fresh popcorn and dishes from Chef Jim Jeffords like mac-and-cheese with roasted Anaheim peppers, chili, poppadews and fried chicken sliders will be available.

Megan Bailey of Evening Star said the idea is to give families and folks a place to congregate before and after Del Ray's annual community tree-lighting ceremony and Santa visit, which begins at 6 p.m. in the farmers market lot.

“We invite our neighbors to gather with family and friends for a warming drink or bite before or after the festivities and toast the holiday season,” she said.

The Del Ray Business Association, which presents the tree lighting and luminarias, will be collecting items for Carpenter’s Shelter at the farmers market lot.
