Construction of The Exchange at Potomac Yard to Begin Soon

More apartment units expected to sprout up in the second quarter of 2012.

MRP Realty and The JBG Companies announced Monday that it will start construction of more than 300 residences in Potomac Yard in the second quarter of 2012, according to a report from UrbanTurf.com.

“The total plans for The Exchange at Potomac Yard are extensive,” UrbanTurf.com reports. “The 1.9 million square-foot mixed-use project will include a town center with approximately 800,000 square feet of office and hotel space, two hotels totaling 625 rooms, 534 residences, and approximately 100,000 square feet of retail.”

Jonathan O'Connell of The Washington Post reported Wednesday that the apartment units at The Exchange will be the first things constructed because the market for rented office space has slowed while demand for apartments remains high.
