Bombay Curry Company Acquires New Spot

Owner seeking assistance from citizens to tackle permit process.

Balraj Bhasin, owner of , has acquired the vacant property located at 2607 Mt. Vernon Avenue in hopes of moving his Indian restaurant a few blocks south.

Bhasin revealed the acquisition in an email sent out to customers this week.

In his email, Bhasin wrote that the expected period of redevelopment is two years.

“Two years… in our opinion is too long for us to be away from our patrons and for them to be without good curry!” Bhasin wrote.

Bhasin is going to approach Alexandria officials with a plan to allow for a small restaurant in the property at 2607 Mt. Vernon Avenue, which most recently housed .

“The process of [special use permits], permits, variances… can sometimes be daunting, long drawn, expensive and time consuming, something a small business can ill afford,” Bhasin wrote. “I, however, believe that if you support this venture, it can be done.”

Bhasin is asking customers email him “a note of support” to attach to his application to the city. He asks people send their notes to bombaycurrycompany@gmail.com and to include their names and addresses.

Bhasin wrote that the potential new location has several benefits, including allowing customers easier access by foot in a more pedestrian-friendly block across the street from .
