Birchmere Debuts New Stage

New space could diversify the acts that come through the Arlandria venue.

rolled out its new Flex Stage earlier this month and the venue’s booking agent hopes it will allow a greater variety of shows, according to The Washington Post’s Going Out Guide.

The new bandstand area allows for a standing capacity of 1,000 and includes a new sound system and lights.

The performance area debuted on May 10 for a show by the Carolina Chocolate Drops.

Birchmere booking agent Michael Jaworek told The Washington Post that he is “looking to increase the number of artists appropriate for the space.”

Acts currently signed up for the Flex Stage setup include Dr. John, The Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Red Baraat and the Funk Ark and Blitzen Trapper.
