Maury School Recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Principal Lucretia Jackson is a breast cancer survivor.

Students and faculty at Maury School put on pink on Monday to raise awareness for breast cancer and show support for Principal Lucretia Jackson, a breast cancer survivor.

Caitlin Rockwell, Maury PTA president-elect, organized the event with other parents by combining a teacher appreciation effort with breast cancer awareness. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Along with students and teachers wearing pink, the outside of the school and teachers lounge was draped in the color. The lounge was also decorated with candy, snacks and other surprises.

Several grade levels also took time on a drizzly afternoon to pose for photos with Jackson in front of the school.
