Won't You Be Mine? Animal Welfare League to Hold Valentine's Day Adoption Event

A select number of the adoptable animals will also have their adoption fees waived for the event as part of the shelter's Adopt It Forward program.

The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is inviting the public to celebrate Valentine’s Day by adopting a pet. On Valentine's Day, Friday from 1 p.m to 8 p.m., the AWLA will hold a special Valentine’s Day Adoption Event, with the goal of helping homeless animals find their very own Valentine.

The AWLA has many different types of pets available for adoption, including dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets and guinea pigs. All adopted animals will go home with a special gift bag full of goodies, including treats, toys, and coupons from local businesses. A select number of the shelter's adoptable animals will also have their adoption fees waived for the event as part of our Adopt It Forward program.

Every animal adopted from the AWLA is spayed or neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated.

Consider bringing the whole family to pick out a pet. For potential adopters living in locations such as apartments, condos or rental units, we encourage you to check the pet policies of the specific location where you reside.

The AWLA also invites those who are not currently able to adopt to join the shelter and share some “Valentine’s Day Love” to the animals on Valentine’s Day. Many of the small animals will be available and would love to get some special attention. The shelter will also provide homemade treats and Valentine’s candy for all visitors.

The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is an independent, local, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving as a resource for our community and a temporary shelter for homeless animals.
