The Freeze is On: 'Dangerously Low' Wind Chills Coming to Alexandria

Alexandria recreation centers will serve as warming hubs during normal business hours.

Frigid temperatures are coming to the Alexandria area Monday evening.

A predicted low of around 9 degrees will come to the area Monday night, the National Weather Service reports. A wind chill advisory is in effect from midnight to 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Temperatures will reach a high of about 18 degrees during the day on Tuesday.

Combined with west winds of 17 to 21 miles per hour with wind gusts up to 31 miles per hour, the wind chill values could likely reach sub-zero levels Monday night and into Tuesday.

“Dangerously low wind chills could then lead to frostbite and hypothermia Monday evening through Tuesday,” the weather service warns
