Talk on Women in Civil War Alexandria Set for Wednesday

Admission is free, seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

The significant role played by both Northern and Southern women during Alexandria’s long occupation by Union forces will be explored Wednesday in a presentation by Wanda Dowell, former director of the Fort Ward Museum. 

The lecture is scheduled for Wednesday from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at the Lloyd House, 220 N. Washington St. in Alexandria.

Admission is free, and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be a short period for questions and light refreshments afterward. 

This program is part of a series of events on the American Civil War sponsored by the Historic Alexandria Resources Commission, Alexandria American Civil War Sesquicentennial Sub-committee, and the Office of Historic Alexandria.
