The Salvation Army Alexandria Women’s Auxiliary is holding its annual flea market on Saturday to coincide with Art on the Avenue in Del Ray.
From 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, the flea market will be held at the Salvation Army Alexandria Citadel Corps at 1804 Mount Vernon Ave. The market will feature antique and estate items, jewelry, art, books, household goods and a yard sale.
“The flea market is perfect for bargain hunters to search for gently used items and maybe even put a dent into their Christmas shopping list,” said Lt. Sheri Jones, Associate Corps Officer for the Salvation Army Alexandria. “The funds raised from the flea market help the Salvation Army continue doing the most good in the lives of Alexandrians in need through the wide variety of services we offer.”
The National Capital Area Command of the Salvation Army assisted more than 73,000 individuals last year by providing help and hope through a diverse range of social services, including emergency eviction and utility cut-off prevention assistance, grocery, clothing and furniture vouchers, meals for the hungry and homeless and more.
Art on the Avenue will be held rain or shine on Saturday along Mount Vernon Avenue from Bellefonte Avenue to Commonwealth Avenue. More than 300 art vendors line the street and the festival has drawn as many as 50,000 people to Del Ray. Art on the Avenue also includes live muscial performances and crafts for kids.
