New Crosswalks Popping Up East of Mount Vernon Avenue
Installation of new pedestrian safety measures began Monday.
Alexandria began installing a series of new standard crosswalks Monday between Mount Vernon Avenue and Route 1 aimed at combating cut-through traffic and maintaining Del Ray's pedestrian-friendly reputation.
The Del Ray Citizens Association secured a $30,000 donation from the developer of the yet-to-be constructed Institute for Defense Analyses office in Potomac Yard in December.
DRCA membership approved the plan for the crosswalks--developed by the association's Traffic and Parking Board and city staff--in May.
