The Del Ray Business Association is inviting the community out to the final First Thursday of the year from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5 all along Mount Vernon Avenue.
The theme of the night is “Lights, Camera, Fashion: Del Ray Rocks the Red Carpet” and many Del Ray businesses are participating in fashion shows throughout the evening at the Del Ray farmers market lot, located at the corner of Mount Vernon and E. Oxford avenues.
Mayor Bill Euille, Councilwoman Del Pepper and Sheriff Dana Lawhorne have been asked to reprise roles as fashion models for the event.
Del Ray's Guest House is the featured nonprofit for the evening. The facility provides non-violent female ex-offenders with structure, supervision, support and assistance to become self-sufficient members of the community. The DRBA will be collecting work clothes for the women of Guest House throughout the evening. Of particular need are uniform-type items, like white shirts, black pants, business-type clothing (primarily in sizes 14-28), black socks, gently worn comfortable work type shoes (preferably black) and new underclothing.
Volunteers will be collecting clothing and monetary donations for Guest House throughout Thursday evening at the farmers market lot.
