The contest can provide up to $5,000 to go toward renovation or new play spaces. The funding must be matched by the contest winners and applied toward improving on-site play areas for children, primarily for children ages two to five.

Uses of funds can include: play equipment for 2 to 5-year-olds (such as climbing structures, slides, swings, spinning toys, ride-on toys, play table, play stores, covered sandboxes, see-saws, balance beams, stepping stones, tree stump steps, wooden platforms or stages, small climbing boulders, and more), playground accommodations (such as benches, picnic tables, trash cans), and play space signs and trails.
