First Thursday Postponed to June 13
With rain in the forecast, organizers push Del Ray street festival back one week.
The Del Ray Business Association postponed Thursday's First Thursday street festival because of expected rain.
With Tropical Storm Andrea nearing the Florida Coast, the National Weather Service warned Alexandria to start preparing for heavy rain and hazardous conditions arriving Thursday and continuing into late Friday evening.

The festival, which was to be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 5, will be held at the same time Thursday, June 13.
The theme of June’s festival is Dog Days of Summer and lots of canine-related activities are planned for Mount Vernon Avenue. The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria is the featured nonprofit.

Here’s the schedule for the remainder of this summer’s First Thursday festivals in Del Ray:
- June 13 — Dog Days of Summer
- July 11 (the second Thursday as not to conflict with July 4) — Main Street Celebration
- Aug. 1 — Did You Know? Highlighting some of the lesser-known businesses in Del Ray.
- Sept. 5 — Lights, Camera, Action!
