DiverseCity Alexandria Multicultural Fest Set For Saturday

New free festival will celebrate Alexandria's diversity.

Alexandria’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Activities has teamed with the Arlandria-Chirilagua Business Association and several citizen groups to organize a new festival celebrating the city’s diversity.

Scheduled for Saturday at the  located at 4109 Mt. Vernon Ave. in Arlandria, the DiverseCity Alexandria Multicultural Fest is open to all ages. The free festival will include live music and performers, international food vendors, kids games and cultural activities. 

The event is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Live acts will use the new Four Mile Run stage that has been used for performances at the Four Mile Run Farmers and Artisans Market.

The music lineup is as follows:

  • 11 a.m. — School of Rock, DRPAC
  • Noon — Celeste Starchild
  • 1 p.m. — Pasaporte Latino
  • 2 p.m. — Mars Rodeo
  • 3 p.m. — The Electrokoustic Band
  • 4 p.m. — CAISO Steeldrum Band

will offer a bike valet service for cyclists and Alexandria City Public Schools is putting on a an “instrument petting zoo.”

Food vendors include El Pulgarcito, Rita’s Italian Ice, Marcela’s Bakery, El Huascaran, Wing Zone and Papa John’s Pizza.

The Lynhaven Citizens AssociationWarwick Village Citizens Association and Hume Springs Citizens Association are co-sponsoring the event.
