More than 80 businesses and others have united to participate in the first on Thursday, including a big to-do here in Del Ray. The final street festival of the year will be part of the citywide celebration, with a multitude of events happening in Del Ray from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Special events include surprise VIP production numbers and an ongoing runway show at the . The runway show will feature models wearing clothes, accessories and other goods from , , Gossip, , , featuring Zweet Sport, Modern Bridal Studio, , , , and .
Sheriff Dana Lawhorne is expected to serve as a model for one of the fashion shows (he’s up for re-election in 2013, after all).
Along with the production numbers and catwalk, a canine fashion show will be held in the patio next to .
The Kate Moran Band will perform Thursday from the farmers market lot and Mars Rodeo will play in the alley next to .
A multitude of Del Ray’s restaurants will offer specialty drinks and other unique menu items throughout the evening, including Artfully Chocolate, , , , , , , , and .
The Del Ray Business Association sponsors the First Thursday festivals each month during warm-weather months. September's featured nonprofit is the Women’s Domestic Violence Shelter.
Volunteers will be accepting the following new and unused items for the shelter at the farmers market lot on Thursday: twin-sheet sets, laundry detergent, bath mats, pillows, dish towels, paper towels, household cleaners, pots and pans, eating utensils, toasters, plates and bowls, baking dishes, laundry baskets, bath towels, wash cloths, brooms, dust pans, mops, pot holders, dish soap, hand soap, sponges, dish racks, cooking utensils, glasses, can openers, shower curtains, and liners and hooks.
