Braddock Road Metro is No. 1 Station for Bike Usage

Bicycle-rack usage up 19 percent at the station from 2011.

Braddock Road Metro is the No. 1 station in the system for bike usage, according to data recently published by Metro’s Office of Long Range Planning.

Usage of bicycle racks at the station is up 19 percent from the year prior thanks in part to the addition of new racks.

Braddock Road Station has the greatest rack capacity in the whole system at 136 spaces. During Metro’s bicycle census period from May 1 to June 15, the station averaged 92 bikes parked—also No. 1 in the system.

King Street Station has a rack capacity of 92. The census found that the station averaged 68 bikes parked during the counting period.

System-wide bicycle parking usage is up 3 percent from 2011. Among Metro’s 86 stations, Arlington Cemetery is the only one without bicycle parking.

The bike census helps Metro measure its progress in attracting bike-to-rail customers and is important in helping Metro plan for future bicycle facilities.
