Black Box Theatre Project in Alexandria Gets Big Financial Boost

Goal for construction is $100,000.

The Metropolitan School of the Arts got a big boost from the  second Annual Benefit Concert to raise money for the Black  Box Theatre project in Alexandria.

The group raised $8,000 toward a fundraising goal of $100,000 to complete the project, MSA said in a news release.

Metropolitan Youth Ballet, Metropolitan Youth Tap Ensemble and iMpulse Jazz Ensemble performed at the concert at the George Washington National Memorial in Alexandria.

“We are so grateful to the community for helping our dance companies get closer to our goal of building our Black Box Theatre,” Melissa Dobbs, president of the Metropolitan School of the Arts in Alexandria and Lorton.

 The 200-seat Black Box Theater will be a part of the Metropolitan School of the Arts studios in Alexandria. The theater is being designed theater specifically for dance company performances.
