Alexandria's First Snow of 2014

Alexandria received a little more than 3 inches of snow.

Alexandria was hit with a little more than 3 inches of snow Thursday evening and into Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

It was enough for Alexandria City Public Schools to close one day after students returned from winter break. Alexandria city offices and the federal government remained open, leaving many workers scrambling to scrape off their cars in the morning.

The snow also offered a chance for some nice photographs. If you have some photos of snowy Alexandria to share, email them to drewh@patch.com and they'll be added to the gallery.
