Metro to Open Early Sunday for Marine Corps Marathon

Some delays planned for Orange Line this weekend.

Metro will open two hours early on Sunday, Oct. 27, for the Marine Corps Marathon. Metro will open at 5 a.m. Sunday for riders traveling to the annual event at Pentagon Station. 

Trains on the Red, Blue, Yellow and Green lines will operate at normal service intervals with no scheduled rebuilding work this weekend. 

Orange Line service will be normal between Vienna and Cheverly, however riders traveling to or from Landover or New Carrollton stations should add time on Saturday.

On from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 every other Orange Line train will run between Vienna and Cheverly only. Riders traveling to or from Landover or New Carrollton stations should add about 12 minutes of travel time. Before 9 a.m. and after 9 p.m., trains will run on regular schedules.

On Sunday, Oct. 27, Orange Line trains will operate every 16 minutes between Vienna and New Carrollton. Normal Sunday service is every 15 minutes.

Crews will be performing advance track infrastructure improvements, including tie replacement, third-rail renewal, joint elimination, tamping and ballast regulating.
