Creative and Caring Men Sought for Mentoring of Fifth Grade Boys

Alexandria’s Juvenile Court Services and Seaport Foundation seek adult male mentors for our new SOHO-Space of His Own, creative mentorship program. Seaport SOHO will provide boys from fragile and fragmented homes with yearlong one-to-one mentoring through engagement in carpentry, fishing and sports activities. The program will teach valuable life skills, provide healthy meals and culminate in the renovation of each boy’s bedroom.  The program will meet throughout the school year on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at the Alexandria Seaport Foundation located on the Potomac at 2 Duke Street. Diverse, fun & caring adult male mentors are needed. No mentoring or carpentry experience is required; training will be provided. Mentor one child & change two lives. Email ashley.snyder@alexandriava.gov to attend an information session on either Wednesday, September 4 from 5:30pm-7:00pm or on Saturday, September 7 from 10:00am-11:30am   at the Alexandria Seaport Foundation or for more information.
