Plus, DASH meeting and swimming.

Five things for Wednesday, Sept. 11 in and around Del Ray:

Remembering 9/11 — The City of Alexandria invites the public to a 10 a.m.  remembrance ceremony for the 12th anniversary of the events of Sept. 11, 2001. The event will take place in Market Square at 301 King St. The purpose of the commemoration is to give thanks and pay tribute to those who responded on 9/11 without fear, acted without hesitation, and gave their lives to save others. The ceremony will feature remarks from Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille, Alexandria Sheriff Dana Lawhorne, Police Chief Earl Cook and Fire Chief Adam Thiel.

Mike Elosh — This local singer-songwriter, who does some great covers and has some clever songs of his own, visits St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub (2300 Mount Vernon Ave.) for a free show beginning at 8 p.m. Check out Mike’s website for samples of some of his tunes.

Food Trucks — Interested in learning more about bringing food trucks to town? In the spring, the city tabled a proposal to bring the gourmet and not-so-gourmet vehicles to the streets. A new council-appointed advisory group has been formed to hash out any issues with the plan. It meets for the first time at 7 p.m. at City Hall. The meeting is open to all.
