Radiohead Jazz vs. Not-So-Modern Jazz and Chocolate Milkshakes

Plus, Michael Winslow at the Old Town Theater and DASH.

Five things for Thursday, Sept. 12 in and around Del Ray:

Radiohead Jazz — I’m intrigued by the idea of the Radiohead Jazz Project, which takes the stage at the Evening Star Café’s No. 9 Lounge (2000 Mount Vernon Ave.) at 8 p.m. If I can get everything in its right place (see what I did there?), I plan on catching this show.

Chocolate Milkshakes — Celebrate the coldest of chocolate concoctions today on National Chocolate Milkshake Day. Where’s your favorite place to get one in Del Ray? Check out the Divas—an awesome assortment of chocolate shakes at Artfully Chocolate (2003 Mount Vernon Ave.) They also do some cool chocolate shakes at Holy Cow (2312 Mount Vernon Ave.). I drink them up!

Thursday Jazz — It’s Thursday, which means the Not-So-Modern Jazz Band will be performing at St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub (2300 Mount Vernon Ave.). The band, which has performed continuously since 1983, gets the party swinging at 7:30 p.m.

Sgt. Larvelle “Motormouth” Jones — Michael Winslow, the “Man of 10,000 Sound Effects” and—in all truth—the best thing about the “Police Academy” movies, will be at the Old Town Theater (815 ½ King St.) for a series of shows beginning tonight. Tickets start at $25. More information available at the Old Town Theater website.

DASH Needs Your Help — Alexandria’s bus system is seeking input and insight from customers to help provide higher quality service and identify future transit needs. The second of two public meetings is at 7 p.m. at Landmark Mall. More information on the meetings is posted on this Del Ray Patch announcement
