Free Yoga, Treehouse Dogs and a Tweeting Fire Chief

Plus more live music and high school football.

We’ve made it to Hump Day, Del Ray-area folks. I can’t believe it either.

Here are 5 Things for this Wednesday, Aug. 7 to begin your roll toward the weekend:

Free yoga — Check out “Cool Yoga,” a free, outdoor yoga class that will be held every Wednesday in August at 1900 Mount Vernon Ave. Today’s class begins at 6:30 p.m. For more information, check out the “Cool Yoga” event listing posted here on Del Ray Patch.

Treehouse DogsThis duo brings its countrified folk and blues tunes—not to mention a little of that ever-important repertoire inclusion of bluegrass—to St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub (2300 Mount Vernon Ave.) beginning at 8 p.m.

Tweeting Fire Chief — Alexandria Fire Chief Adam Thiel is the arguably the most social media savvy of Alexandria’s officials, edging Councilmen John Chapman and Justin Wilson by about one rung on a fire ladder. Thiel made the rounds at National Night Out on Tuesday night, posting some photos along the way. Check out this shot from his stop in Del Ray.

Jazzy Star — Rachel Burns brings her jazz stylings to Evening Star Café’s No. 9 Lounge beginning at 8 p.m. If you’re there early, be sure to stop by The Front Porch. I hear the slushies are a hit.

Are you ready for some football? — The T.C. Williams High School football team kicks off regular season play at the month. Check out the Titans’ 2013 schedule.
