Lights, Camera, Fashion! — Plenty of fashion shows featuring local businesses, a performance from the Kate Moran Band and other fun activities are planned from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. up and down Mount Vernon Avenue for the final First Thursday street festival of 2013. Check out this little advance of the event, which is benefitting Del Ray nonprofit Guest House.

Les Nubians — This sister duo from Bordeaux, France by way of Chad hits The Birchmere (3701 Mount Vernon Ave.) at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $29.50. Check out their 1998 effort “Makeda.”

Thursday Jazz — It’s Thursday, which means the Not-So-Modern Jazz Band will be performing at St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub (2300 Mount Vernon Ave.). The band, which has performed continuously since 1983, gets the party swinging at 7:30 p.m.

National Cheese Pizza Day — You’re all well aware of the nutritional and medicinal aspects of this fine food, which is celebrated today with its own yummy holiday. Where do you get your favorite cheese pizza in and around Del Ray?

Sur La Table Opens — Sur La Table is officially opening its new store at 326 King St. at 10 a.m. today. Along with selling kitchenware and cookware accessories, Sur La Table will offer a culinary program at the new spot.
