The Alexandria Childhood Obesity Action Network (A-COAN) is partnering with the Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE) to expand the Master Food Volunteer Program to Alexandria.  The Master Food Volunteer Program combines your love of cooking, nutrition, physical activity, and helping others!  The corps of volunteers helps the Virginia Cooperative Extension reach more Virginians with up-to-date, research based knowledge on food preparation, nutrition, food safety, and physical activity. 

We are actively recruiting volunteers to participate in the March 2013 training class.  Space is limited and registration closes February 8^th. 

Become a Master Food Volunteer

Do you:

• Want to learn more about nutrition and wellness?
• Enjoy volunteering?
• Want to make a difference in your community?

Virginia Cooperative Extension is looking for applicants to become Master Food Volunteers (MFVs). Volunteers help to lead Extension’s many nutrition programs in the community, such as:

• Cooking demonstrations
• Nutrition and cooking classes for adults
• Cooking classes at senior centers
• Nutrition classes for parents of pre-schoolers
• In school and after school programs
• Health Fairs
• Newspaper or newsletter articles on healthy eating, physical activity, and food preparation
• Education at food distribution sites
• Create your own!

Here are the details for the next training:

When:  March 1, 8, 15 and 22 (attendance at all four days is required)

Time:  9:00 a.m.—3:00 p.m.

Where: 

3/1 & 3/8: 12011 Govt Ctr Pkwy,

The Virginia Room  in Fairfax

3/15 & 3/22: 3308 S Stafford Street,

in Arlington

Cost: $70. (includes lunches, training
materials, apron, tote bag, and supplies).
