Agenda:Alexandria examines the options beyond traditional medicine available in Alexandria. Our panelists will describe the benefit of a holistic approach to medicine by treating the cause of illness - not just the symptoms. We will learn the benefits of herbal medicine and how yoga can improve your health and well being. Finally, we will hear about the manufacture of medicines in the 18th Century dispensed by the Stable-Leadbeater Apothecary Shop - before the days of “Big Pharma.”
Guests: Marie Steinmetz, MD, board-certified in Family Medicine, Integrative Medicine and Medical Acupuncture; Eleonora Gafton, faculty member and professional chef in the Nutrition and Integrative Health program at Tai Sophia Institute, one of the nation’s top graduate schools for health and wellness studies; Dr. Kenneth W. Miller, a retired pharmacist who serves as a volunteer docent and Board Member for Alexandria's Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum; and Gloria Scott, Yoga master and teacher.
