Last-Minute New Year's Eve Planning

I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday! With our bellies full from big families dinners and the holidays starting to wind down, let's continue to eat and play locally to finish off 2011!

If you are still planning your New Year's Eve, here is a list of special offerings from our neighborhood food outposts:

Fireflies — Live music with a rock 'n' roll cover band starting at 8 p.m. Stop by for drinks and a bit of dancing. Starting at 10 p.m., the event is 21 and over only. More info.

Monroe's — Just an a la carte menu to ring in the New Year. Live music is not permitted in the restaurant. More info.

Rustico — New Year's Eve has no cover charge and features a midnight toast. More info

Los Tios — Nothing planned for the evening but the restaurant will be open. More info.

Evening Star Cafe — The restaurant was recently remodeled, so might be a lovely place to try on the last evening of 2011. Staff is offering a full menu from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and then its drinks and the ball drop in both the Majestic Lounge and upstairs in the No. 9 Lounge. No cover charge for the lounge. More info.

La Strada and Osteria 1909 — Staff will have special items on the menu and a midnight toast. Perhaps plan to check out Osteria 1909 for early drinks, then eat a late dinner and ring in the New Year next door at La Strada. More info.

Not many options for live music and a good time for the whole family in Del Ray. Are there any other tips or suggestions? Share in the comments!

We miss the live music at the Del Ray Coffeehouse in the basement of the Del Ray Methodist Church on Windsor.. That was always fun.
