We’re so excited that the biannual Del Ray House and Garden Tour is just three weeks away. We remember the last tour fondly—racing by bike to each stop, giddy with anticipation of what incredible feature the next home would unveil.

Part of it is curiousity, simply visiting the homes you've passed so many times but have never gone inside. Another part of it is inspiration, taking mental note of fabulous interior and exterior design ideas for your next project.

We have been lucky enough to get a glimpse inside some of the homes that will be on this year's tour, and must say, they are simply fabulous.

• House No. 1: A gut renovation designed for elegant entertaining, with classic features, an open floor plan, and loads of light.
• House No. 2: An artsy cottage with many stories to tell and eclectic surprises behind every corner.
• House No. 3: A brand new home with graceful and historic-inspired architectural design that make you feel welcome and relaxed.

There are 12 homes on the tour that will take place on May 19. Tickets can be purchased on the Del Ray Citizens Association website, at the Del Ray Farmers' Market on Saturdays or at A Show of Hands.

Proceeds from the tour go toward the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria and phase II of the landscaping at the Pocket Park at E. Del Ray and Commonwealth avenues.
