Five things to do this weekend

 

1. There are four free events on Saturday for you and your family:

• The Wellness Fair at INOVA Alexandria Hospital runs from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

• A Parent Workshop on Developing Children’s Self Esteem begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Alexandria First Christian Church.

• The Center for Alexandria’s Children is hosting a Family Fun Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at William Ramsey Elementary.

• Healthy Kids Day at the Y runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the YMCA on Monroe Avenue.

2. Don’t miss the Kelley Cares 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday at 8 a.m. The race starts at George Washington Middle School and winds up Commonwealth Avenue. Organizers hope to have roads open again by 10 a.m.

3. There are several garden themed events in Old Town this weekend:

• The Friends of Carlyle House Annual Herb Sale runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at Carlyle House Historic Park. 

• A Growing Vegtables in Containers class runs from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the Charles Houston Recreation Center.                                        

• The 78th Annual Historic Alexandria House and Garden Tour runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

4. There will be fun for the entire family at the Del Ray Business Association's Third Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the grassy lot next to Bean Creative.  

5. There will be a Japan Disaster Relief Concert at 7 p.m. Sunday at The Lyceum.
