10:50 a.m. update — According to a City of Alexandria spokesperson, Virginia American Water notified the city that the water service outages are expected to be only "temporary" while repairs are being made.

Warwick Village and other nearby residents are experiencing irregular water service Saturday morning following a water main break on Sycamore Street near its intersection with Landover Street.

Virginia American Water crews arrived on the scene around 9 a.m., about an hour after the break was reported.

Nearby residents said they were told regular service would be restored by 7 p.m. Saturday.
