Warhol Screenprints for Sale at Old Town Auction House

Pop artist Andy Warhol print of Marilyn Monroe expected to fetch up to $50,000 for Potomack Company.

Old Town Alexandria auction house Potomack Company is auctioning off a rare lettered and signed color screenprint by legendary pop artist Andy Warhol.

The print of actress Marilyn Monroe depicts the star with an orange face on pink background and remains in its original steel Kulicke frame.

It is lettered “A, FS II.22” from an edition of 250 and 26 AP signed and lettered prints.

Potomack Company Fine Arts Specialist Anne Craner says the artwork comes from a private Chevy Chase, Md., estate.

She estimates it will sell for between $50,000 to $100,000.

Potomack’s spring catalog also features another numbered Warhol color silkscreen titled “Flowers 1970," with a sale estimate of $20,000 to $30,000 for the pink, blue and yellow floral work numbered “FS II.73.”

The company’s two-day auction on March 16 and 17 also features Asian art from a private collection, vintage Tiffany jewelry and antique Southern furniture.

The firm recently moved from 526 N. Fayette St. to a new 10,000-square-foot gallery at 1120 N. Fairfax St.
