What business or businessperson represents the heart and soul of the neighborhood? The Del Ray Business Association wants to know and they’re asking for some help.
The DRBA has opened voting for its Heart of Del Ray award to the public. Organizers ask citizens and customers to vote for one of the five nominees by e-mail. Voting ends on Thursday and the award will be handed out on Friday.
Organizers ask selection be based on which business best demonstrates a warm and welcoming attitude to the community and customers, a commitment and generosity to the community and to their contribution to what makes Del Ray a great place to live, work and shop.
The five nominees are:
• Artfully Chocolate/Kingsbury Confections
• Bobi Bomar, Homes of Alexandria, Weichert Realtors
• Cheesetique Specialty Cheese Shop
• Jack Taylor, Alexandria Toyota
To vote, e-mail your top choice to HeartofDelRay@yahoo.com. Organizers ask for just one vote per household.
We’ll announce the winner on the site as soon as word is received on Friday.

Thanks Drew for posting information on the voting for Heart of Del Ray. It is so neat to see some of the wonderful comments people are including with their votes. I know one of the things that makes Del Ray so great are some of the personal relationships that exist between the businesses and the community.
