Area residents looking for an affordable place to live can make headway at the Northern Virginia Housing Expo on Saturday, March 16.
This year’s expo takes place from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School, 7930 Leesburg Pike. It is hosted by the Fairfax-based nonprofit AHOME in cooperation with the Virginia Housing Development Authority, the cities of Alexandria and Falls Church, the counties of Arlington, Fairfax and Loudoun, and the towns of Herndon and Manassas.
The event will showcase both homeownership and rental opportunities and resources throughout Northern Virginia and feature workshop and exhibits designed to educate attendees about location options, being prepared for buying or renting and more.
The list of exhibitors can be found here. The site also features a schedule of the free workshops. Refreshments will also be available on-site.
Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School is located at I-66 and Route 7, adjacent to the West Falls Church Metro station, and offers free parking on-site and at the neighboring UVA-VT and Metro parking lots. This year marks the third annual expo produced by this collaborative effort. The 2012 expo featured more than 60 exhibitors and hundreds of attendees and won the annual award bestowed by the Housing Association of Nonprofit Developers for “Best Government Initiative.”
More information about the expo is available online at www.NoVaHousingExpo.org. The event underwriter is PNC Bank, and its platinum sponsors include the Virginia Housing Development Authority.
