Stop Child Abuse Now of Northern Virginia held its annual Toast to Hope on Saturday night at the George Washington National Masonic Memorial.

A record number 225 guests helped raise more than $50,000 in funds to supports SCAN's child abuse prevention programs through ticket sales to Saturday night's wine tasting and cuisine sampling as well as a silent auction.

"In today's economy, we are especially grateful to have such committed supporters who understand the importance of child abuse prevention," said Sonia Quinonez, SCAN of Northern Virginia's executive director. "As local families struggle and face ongoing financial stress, they need our support and programs more than ever before."

Several Del Ray businesses chipped in to help, including Mancini's Cafe and Bakery, the yet-to-be-opened Pork Barrel BBQ, Cheesetique, Caboose Cafe and others.
