The race for Alexandria School Board includes just three incumbents among 17 total candidates in three districts.
The deadline to file for candidacy was 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Helen Morris is running for re-election in District A, while incumbents Marc Williams and Ronnie Campbell are looking to return in District B and C, respectively.

Chairman Sheryl Gorsuch and members Charles Wilson, Mimi Carter, Blanche Maness and Yvonne Folkerts did not file paperwork for re-election. Arthur Peabody took himself out of the running for re-election after entering the City Council race.
Gorsuch told Patch on Tuesday night at the Alexandria Democratic Committe's Unity Victory party: "It was a difficult decision and I had mixed feelings but I've resolved to continue to be involved."

She added that it's "nice people have choices" and said it will be interesting to see which issues the community thinks are important.
