Russell Road Fire Displaces Three Families

Cause of morning blaze in Arlandria remains unknown.

A two-alarm fire Monday morning on the top floor of a Russell Road apartment complex in Arlandria has displaced three families, according to Alexandria Fire Department Battalion Chief John W. North.

North said the blaze caused no injuries to residents or firefighters. He said the source of the fire remains unknown.

According to North, the blaze caused an estimated $50,000 in damage to the apartment building in the 3800 block of Russell Road across the street from St. Rita's Catholic Church.

The fire was reported at 8:49 a.m. and first responders arrived a minute later.

Alexandria and Arlington County fire crews were on the scene. Russell Road was closed between Mt. Vernon Avenue and W. Glebe Road at of 10 a.m.
