Rock Harper to Serve as Taste of Del Ray Judge
D.C.-area chef was the third-season winner of "Hell's Kitchen" reality show featuring Gordon Ramsay.
“Hell’s Kitchen” reality show winner Rahman "Rock" Harper will serve as the celebrity judge at this year’s Taste of Del Ray festival, scheduled for June 3 from 1 to 3 p.m.
Chef Harper was the third-season winner of the hit Fox show featuring Gordon Ramsay.
Harper is no stranger to Alexandria; the chef had a bumpy one-month run as executive chef at The Carlyle Club, according to The Washington Post.
Harper, who lives in Woodbridge, has also served as executive chef at Washington, D.C. restaurants Ben’s Next Door and B. Smith’s.
After winning “Hell’s Kitchen,” Harper became an instructor at Stratford University in Woodbridge and penned the book “44 Things Parents Should Know About Healthy Cooking for Kids.”
Harper also works as director of kitchen operations for DC Central Kitchen, an organization committed to ending poverty, homelessness and hunger in the District, and is a celebrity chef with the March of Dimes.
Last summer, former “Top Chef” contestant Carla Hall served as the first-ever celebrity judge of the Taste of Del Ray.
Del Ray Patch will pass on more details about the 2012 Taste of Del Ray as they become available.

What a fun event. As I understand it, this event is completely organized by volunteers; thanks to all those who make this a great neighborhood occasion. Having these celebrity chef judges come to the area I believe only adds additional profile to the terrific area restaurants.
