Readers' Choice: The Best Festival or Community Event in Old Town and Del Ray
Let your neighbors know what you've known all along. Share your favorites in Patch Readers' Choice.
What's the best festival of the year in Old Town and Del Ray?
Patch has relaunched its Readers’ Choice program and we’re asking you, your friends, family, neighbors, coworkers and anyone else in town to vote on the best festival of the year in the poll below, based on your nominations earlier this summer.
We accepted nominations through July 9. The voting period is July 23 through Aug. 17 and we'll crown a winner Aug. 24.
Thanks for your participation.

Alexandria Aces Collegiate Summer Baseball Club ball games, at Frank Mann Field at Four Mile Run Park, during the months of June and July. The Alexandria Aces are a 501(c)3 not-for-profit community-based team, and they have an extremely family-fun type of atmosphere, food is cooked by Union Street Public House, and the players are all playing intense 'rookie ball' level minor league wooden bat baseball, as they all are hoping a scout finds them to sign them to a Major League Baseball contract. Kyle Zimmer (San Francisco) who played for the Aces in 2010, was the fifth overall pick in the 2012 MLB Draft, by the Kansas City Royals. Kyle recently signed a $3.5 million dollar contract. Going from Alexandria to Major League Baseball in two years? That's some top-quality wooden bat baseball! Come out to see YOUR Alexandria Aces. It's a game 'where legends begin'.

For our family, it's a close race between the Del Ray Halloween Parade and Cinema Del Ray. I'm going to go with the parade but say Cinema Del Ray is a close second - very, very close.

I also nominate the Scottish Christmas Walk weekend which has something for everyone. A huge gala event at the Masonic Temple, including scotch tasting, a wonderful parade, house tours, Marketplace, Heather and Greens sales, the Childrens Tea event with crafts and Santa Claus, and more, it is an Old Town tradition and should definitely be included!
