11:30 a.m. update — Pork Barrel BBQ restaurant will officially open for business Tuesday, according to public relations rep Jennifer Brand.

"We've passed the inspections and are set to open tomorrow," Brand wrote in an email to Del Ray Patch.

Still no official word on the hours of operation. We'll pass those on as they're announced.

In the meantime, Brand sent over some recent photos of the interior of the restaurant as well as pictures of the first brisket and pork butt out of the place's gigantic smoker.

Pork Barrel BBQ is expected to announce the official opening date of its Del Ray restaurant sometime Monday.

The barbecue company said on its Facebook page Sunday evening that “a major announcement” is imminent.

A few Del Ray Patch Twitter followers said Sunday night that the expected opening date is Tuesday.

Here are a few of the unsubstantiated tweets:

@delrayser: Sign on the door this weekend said they'd passed inspection and would be open on Tuesday. Dare to dream?

• @Leanne2433 It's Tuesday! I spoke with a gentlemen who works there out front today. Fingers crossed!

Del Ray Patch reported two weeks ago that the restaurant was entering a final round of inspections.

Thank goodness -- I don't think I could go another week smelling my fiancee's PBB perfume (http://www.porkbarrelbbq.com/que/) without having the chance to actually sit down and have a taste of the real thing.

Oh, and by the way -- let me be the first person to suggest that PBB become a Steeler bar! =P

A virginia restaurant, serving hog based southern food, with a play on words related to federal legislation, is clearly a Redskins spot. Only other choice would be St. Louis Rams since I think I couple of the guys were hill staffers for Missouri.

Steeler bar, really? Why must Steeler fans feel the need to co-opt everything and make it their own. There's more to life than your silly football team. Your guys barely beat the Chiefs last night.

There's a reason why there are so many Steeler fans dispersed around the country: Anyone with the means to leave Pittsburgh does so.

Sam, lighten up. It's pretty clear that Thom was merely making a lighthearted comment.

At first I was excited, then I was indifferent and now I'm over it. It's just another restaurant. Yes, it will be a nice addition to Delray and I'm sure the food will be good. I plan on going. But in the end, it's just a restaurant. Calm down people.

The hours of operation are painted onto the glass on the front of the restaurant. I believe they are 11A-11P most days, and staying open until 1:00 AM Fri-Sat

I am from Memphis and a BBQ snob. PB BBQ's pulled pork is as good as it gets. I can go with my family there for a reasonable price, inviting atmosphere, and good food. Thank you for coming to Del Ray.
