Police Warn of Recent Del Ray-Area Burglaries
Police captain says three or four similar burglaries have been reported in recent weeks.
Alexandria Police Captain Scott Ogden warned of a string of related burglaries in the Del Ray area at the monthly membership meeting of the Del Ray Citizens Association on Monday night.
Ogden said there have been three or four similar burglaries reported in recent weeks in Sector 2 of the city, which includes Del Ray, Rosemont, Arlandria and other neighborhoods.
“We believe they are connected,” Ogden said. “They all appear alike.”
Ogden said the burglaries have involved someone using a brick or similar hard object to break a window to gain entry into homes during the day while residents are at work.
A detective is assigned to the case. There are no suspects at the moment, but Ogden said the police are going through pawn records and processing fingerprints.
According to crimereports.com, a burglary occurred on Nov. 2 in the 200 block of E. Mason Avenue where a living room window was broken. Jewelry was stolen from the bedrooms of the home. Another recent burglary was recorded in the 1600 block of Hunting Creek on Oct. 30.
