Updated: Police Obtain Arrest Warrant for Third Suspect in Harris Case

Tyrone Lewis is the third suspect in the Harris case.

 

Prince George's County Police announced on Monday that they have obtained an arrest warrant for a third suspect in the Lenny Harris case.

Tyrone Lewis, 26, has been arrested in addition to Linwood Johnson, 49, and Ivan Newman, 20, for the murder of Alexandria resident Harris.

Lewis of Temple Hills, Md., is currently being held in Fairfax County on unrelated charges, according to Corporal Mike Rodriguez of PG Police. Lewis is being held on detainer for first degree murder, robbery and reckless endangerment.

Rodriguez said police now believe Lewis is the third and final suspect in the case.

Lewis is being charged with first and second degree murder and first and second degree assault. Robbery was the motive, according to police.

Harris was shot and dropped in a 25-foot well on Old Fort Rd. in Prince George's County. His funeral and memorial service was held Monday.

On Jan. 26 at approximately 12:07 p.m., police received an anonymous call that a body was in a well in the 11900 block of Old Fort Rd. in Fort Washington, Md. Patrol officers arrived on scene and established a crime scene. With the assistance of the Prince George’s County Fire Department, Department of Environmental Resources, the Department of Public Works, the Health Department and the excavating company Dirt Plus, the body was recovered on Saturday, Jan. 28.  The Medical Examiner’s Office positively identified the body on Sunday, Jan. 29.

Alexandria Police have been collaborating with PG Police on the case.
