Police Arrest Four for DWI During Weekend Enforcement Effort
Three cars also were impounded during the initiative.
Alexandria police stopped 66 vehicles and made four arrests for Driving While Intoxicated, or DWI, over the weekend.
The police conducted a roaming DWI enforcement effort to deter and apprehend intoxicated drivers from 10 p.m. on Sept. 22, to 6 a.m. on Sept. 23.
Vehicles observed committing traffic infractions were stopped and drivers were checked to assure that their abilities to drive had not been impaired by alcohol or drugs.
In addition, three vehicles were impounded and 41 tickets were issued for miscellaneous traffic offenses.
Seven Alexandria police officers and one emergency communications technician participated in the mobile enforcement effort.
Earlier this month, police made two arrests in a similar DWI crackdown.
