Plans for Mexican-Peruvian Restaurant Move Forward for North Del Ray

The owners of the restaurant plan a major renovation of 3401 Mount Vernon Ave.

A new Mexican and Peruvian restaurant is on the way to north Del Ray, thanks to approval by the city’s Planning Commission.

The commission at a meeting last week gave its nod to a major renovation of 3401 Mount Vernon Ave. that would become a restaurant seating 28 patrons.

Del Ray Business Association President Maria Wasowski put in a good word for the applicants, Jose Mario Cabero and Jose Guillermo Cabero, saying she believed this new addition to the neighborhood would help revitalize a stretch of Mount Vernon Avenue that currently looks like “no man’s land.”

Wasowski said she thought the renovation plans look “pretty darn good.”

To me the area looks like a place where many men are looking for work, not as a place described by Del Ray Business Association President Maria Wasowski as “no man’s land.” I feel comfortable (as do many of my friends and family) walking this stretch of the neighborhood anytime, day or night. I would like for Ms. Wasowski to explain her comment.

I take it that Ms. Wasowski decided to delete her comment. I'm all in favor of this new restaurant!
