Mounted on a 747, the space shuttle Discovery made its last trip over the Washington region on Tuesday morning on its way to its final destination at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.
Hundreds of office workers and others flooded the streets and waited along the waterfront in Founders Park, Oronoco Bay Park and elsewhere to catch a glimpse of the aircraft, which appeared around 10 a.m.
Several Patch readers sent in photos and videos of the shuttle making its way across the morning sky.
If you snapped any photos of the flight, upload them to our gallery or email them to drewh@patch.com and we'll upload them for you.
In March 2011, reader David Woodruff sent in a photo of Discovery flashing over the night sky in Del Ray on its final mission.
Falls Church Patch captured the scene at Gravelly Point Park just north of Reagan National Airport.
