This historical marker in Charles W. Hill Park is one of eight in Del Ray.

In April of 2008, eight interpretive historical markers were unveiled throughout Del Ray in honor of the centennial of the Town of Potomac. The markers tell different stories about the neighborhood’s history, from its railroad roots to some of the structures that no longer exist (and some that still do).

Leeland Ness and Lee Perna researched and crafted content for each of the markers. Dennis Kund designed the signs.

The Del Ray Citizens Association offers a Google map with the location of each marker.

If you’re not up for exploring the neighborhood on foot, the City of Alexandria website has .pdf copies of each of the signs and more information on the history of the Town of Potomac.
